How To Register KRA PIN Using iTax System

KRA has recently migrated from ITMS system to the new iTax system. Here is the instruction on how you can register your own PIN using iTax system.

Step 1: Access the iTax System

First of all, you need to click on this link to access the iTax system website – https://itax.kra.go.ke or you can search on Google the word “itax kra” and you should be able to get the website link.

Step 2:  New PIN Registration

If you are unregistered user and would like to register your PIN, then on the right column you will be able to see a link named “New PIN Registration” under the Unregistered Users. Click on that link to proceed.

Step 3: e-Registration

Once you have reached this point, you will need to select the Taxpayer Type you fit in the drop-down field. The options available are;
Individual – personal, students, employee, entrepreneurs
Non-Individual – for businesses and companies
You will also be expected to select the Mode of Registration whether it is “Online Form” or “Upload Form”.

Step 4: Basic Information

You will now be required to fill in your information on this form with accurate details. Once you complete inputting your details, you will need to click “Next” in order to proceed to the next section.

Step 5: Taxpayer Obligation Details

KRA has added some new improvement on the way you will need to meet the tax obligation requirements. In the previous ITMS, you were only expected to tick a checkbox. However, on the new iTax system, you are expected to put the registration date next to the tax obligation that you have selected.

Step 6: Source of Income

iTax system has brought in a new requirement that will expect all taxpayers to mention their source of income.

  • Employment Income
  • Business Income
  • Rental Income

Step 7: Agent Details

KRA has introduced a new regulation on the PIN registration which will require that you have an authorized Tax Agent to submit your application on your behalf. This means that you simply can’t finish the PIN registration process by yourself.

Once every field has been filled with correct information you will be able to submit the information. However in the event, you had forgotten to fill a field, an Error Tab will appear and inform you the sections where you have not completed before you can proceed.

Step 8: Download & Print

When you successfully submit your information, you will be able to see a message saying “Registration Application has been Submitted Successfully.” Your new PIN will be displayed on the screen and you will also be to see a link labeled “Click here to download PIN certificate” that will allow you to download your new PIN and print. That’s it.

  18. This is the most difficult thing especially fopr the people who dont have access to internet.
    I have been to Uhuru park like ten times and no assistance is forthcoming and the explanation is always the same, “go to a cyber”. who will pay for the cyber yet I have paid taxes in other forms?
    Since I want to be paying taxes, is that paper not more than one shilling really worth the time am wasting to and from that far end of the CBDA?
    What is the best that you can do to save man hours, man power, irritation, and for sure save some people the likelihood of an accident in the busy Uhuru High way?

Please I don’t think its a good idea to frustrate Kenyans like this, the links u are directing everybody to, are not working and if you are referring us to cybers, who gains after all because I have my laptop and if you are telling me to again go to cyber my friends, some of us are not in the position in which are in.So please sometimes have mercy on Kenyans who are straggling to acquire the site

  30. I TAX is the best. Those who have problems with it are the same who ignored the call for I TAX training when it was free of charge.
    Leave the agent details blank and proceed with the registration. Avoid Ignorance and Negligence.

It is laughable how kra is trying to experiment with loyal tax payers on this new technology. kra has all the details for the tax payers, but then why frustrate kenyans for what they are not trained on. There are so many factors to be considered before such important technological advancement is implemented. Do your work and stop frustrating kenyans with your deadlines. our work is to pay tax, the rest are for experts.

    1. You will need to take your ID to KRA offices or iTax centres to perform data loading so that you can be able to apply for your PIN online.

    1. You will need to have ID first before applying for KRA PIN. And you can only apply for ID when you turn 18 years old.
